When a divorce happens, most married couples lawyer up, and property disputes are resolved in court. But, when couples live together and break up, rarely are the courts involved.
There is not a clear answer to property issues. Sometimes it may boil down to who bought what. To avoid problems, there are some things that can be done.
One way to avoid problems is for couples to keep their finances separate and not invest in property together until they get married.
