Have you noticed the pattern in three of the post for today. In one case, the Wisconsin Assembly approved a ban on the morning-after pill. In another, an Iowa judge makes a ruling on same sex marriage. And finally, a federal judge upholds a ban on gay marriage.
I am so glad that our court's and lawmakers want to take on the huge task of controlling our morals. (Tongue in Cheek, trying to not bite the side of my mouth).
In my humble opinion, we have nothing to complain about. We have allowed this to happen. Take the situation in Kansas. Our Supreme Court is telling the legislature to spend more money on education. I am curious, what constitutional issue or checks and balance issue gives our supreme court the authority to do this? Someone please enlighten me. Or is it that our elected officials are so screwed up that the Courts have to come in and save us all from their dumb acts and also their lack of actions.
Instead of relying on our courts to fix what our representatives screw up; why don't we fix it ourselves and get rid of them at the ballot box? But we don't. We simply smile, go vote and usually vote for the same one over and over again.
We are usually stuck with the judges, unless we vote to not retain them. We can replace our representatives by firing them and voting for someone else. We elected these people to these position to represent us. Should we not demand they do what is in their job description.
It is time that the public took its responsibility serious. Educate yourselves on the issues and the people running for office. Take an interest in the election and the process. And, not just the fact you have that nice little sticker on your shirt that says you have Voted. Big deal, if you haven't actually informed yourself on what you are voting on and who you are voting for.
