The Ocean Energy Minute and NY Minutes

Carolyn Elefant of My Shingle fame and Nicole Black of Sui Generis -- a New York law blog have both started doing “video minues” on their respective blogs.

Carolyn has her first one up on her great blog, Offshore Renewable Energy Law Blog. Nicole has a series of them up under the Category, NY Minute.

What is great about this is both are Solo’s. They are both using the blog and the internet to carve out a niche in their practice areas. Carolyn has made a challenge to all of us to try doing this ourselves.

If there are others of you doing this, please post a comment to this post with a link to your blog videos. I have an idea and will explore it further once I see what the response is.

YouTube Adds Quick Capture Feature

With the talk recently from other lawyers about using YouTube for marketing, I thought this post from PaulStamatiou.com was very timely. I have used YouTube in this blog and my Kansas Family Law Blog to provide information in a very useful way. With YouTube's new Quick Capture feature, it would appear anyone can do a video.

In the first real YouTube feature update since the Google buyout, YouTube has introduced the blog-worthy quick capture. In addition to the video toolbox that helps amateur ‘tubers improve their video recording skills, quick capture adds to YouTube’s convenience, letting users record directly from any camera connected to their computer - including iSights.

Connected Lawyer -- YouTube

logo_tagline_sm.gifAs you most likely have notice, I have been almost crazy with embedding YouTube in some of my post. Sorry!! However, if used in the right way, I think they can help provide information and get your point across.

When I first started looking at embedding YouTube into some of my post, I questioned whether it would really be useful on my Practice Blogs. In fact I was reluctant to do so. But, the other day, I did just that in this POST.

So, I have caved. If used right, it does work. My position has been and always will be that we have an obligation to provide information to the public. And, a blog is a great way to do just that. The addition of the video explaining Collaborative Divorce accomplished my goal of providing information. And it provides that information in a fashion that people know and understand.

If any of you disagree or if any of you have tried it on your own blog, let me know.
