Stark County Law Library Blog

The Stark County Law Library Blog in my opinion is one of the great law related blogs out there. I have been following this blog for over a year now and it provides great stuff on a daily basis. They find those helpful post and articles that most of us might miss and give us a heads up on them.

They describe themselves as "serving the legal community of Stark County, Ohio." I would have to argue they are serving the legal community everywhere.

I have their RSS feed in my RSS reader and if you don't you should. Check them out.

MarsEdit 1.1

The new version of MarsEdit is out and it has some great new features. One of the best is the ability to actually add and edit Technorati tags. While you could add tags before, this is an actual Technorati tag. The tags are a lot easier to add also. You will notice below the tags I placed for this post.

I use MarsEdit and would highly recommend it to everyone who blogs and uses a Mac. Oh did I mention, it works only on Macs. Sorry windoze users.

Home Office Blogger gets great Exposure

Jonathan Stein, best know for his great blog, The Practice made the Washington Post list of who's blogging "this story". This just goes to show that even a Home Office Lawyer can get some great PR from blogging. See the image below.

Jonathan also has a great blog called the California Personal Injury and Insurance Blog.

Thank You

images.jpegAs we approach the Christmas season and the new year after that, I wanted to stop and express my thanks to all of you who read this blog. I have enjoyed providing the Home Office Lawyer blog to you this year. From its start, I have changed its design and format at least four times. I have added images to some of the post in hopes the appearance would be easier to read.

I hope the information I have provided has been helpful and useful to you. While posting as much as I have takes some time and effort, I have benefited from the information as much as you the reader has. Providing this blog has forced me to keep up on the issues and news as it applies to operating a law office. I have also discovered there are many of us who practice from our home. Best of all, I have met and been able to get to know some wonderful people from all over the United States.

I have also enjoyed the comments and questions that some of you have posted to this blog. Even the emails I receive from you have been greatly appreciated. If I have one request for the coming year it is this: increase your comments and questions. Post them as often as you can. This blog will grow from the comments and questions it receives. One thing I have tried to do is answer as many of them as possible with new posts on those questions and comments. In essence, you have helped write this blog. Keep them coming as much and often as possible.

Finally, coming soon you will see some changes coming to the Home Office Lawyer blog. We will be changing the design and its features soon. So watch for them and please post any comments or questions you have.

STARTING YOUR OWN FIRM . ....

Here is a nice post about my friend Jonathan Stein's blog, The Practice. If you don't already have it set in your RSS reader, do so. It is worth it. Not only does Jonathan have some great stuff for law students, he has some great hints and tips for those starting their own firm and those thinking about it.

STARTING YOUR OWN FIRM . ....: "

STARTING YOUR OWN FIRM . . . There's a new weblog called The Practice that bears this tagline: 'Helping law students and lawyers learn everything they wanted to know about law practice management, but did not learn in law school.' It's a good resource for anyone thinking about starting their own firm. Example: 'Before you open your own firm: Part 1.'

The Practice is just one of many new 'solo and small firm blogs,' as Carolyn Elefant terms them in her recent post, 'Have We Reached The Solo Practice Tipping Point?' As Carolyn says, 'The rise of biglaw mergers hasn't quelled the growing interest in solo practice; if anything, it's heightened it.'

A Blog I actually lost track of

Chris Scott from the Law Office Management and Marketing has the makings of a great blog. What even makes it better is that he uses Macs in his law office. Set your news reader to follow his RSS and watch the post to come.

Calloway's Site of the Week: The Practice

And much deserved, if I might add. As many of you have most likely noticed, I have been mentioning The Practice as often as I can and linking to their wonderful post too.

I agree with Jim Calloway's picking of them as his site of the week. Jim provides a great post about The Practice over at his own blog, Jim Calloway's Law Practice Tips Blog.

If you have not visited The Practice do so, and do it now.
