Many of you have raised the battery concern about the iPhone. And some have said it is not for the business person nor lawyer. And I have been asked if I am getting one.
I for one am waiting until at least the 2nd generation comes out. Mainly because I just don't buy anything in 1st generation. As to your concerns about the battery replacement issue. I just don't see that as a problem. If it is because you don't want to send you phone to Apple to get it replaced, the experience I have had with Apple Care and support is outstanding. Usually they send you the box, you send it and within a few days you have it back. And, it might be really nice to not have a cell phone for a few days anyway.
If you concern is that you can't swap out a dead battery for a fully charged one. I thought that too when I bought my Treo 650. I went to the expense to get another battery and a charger. And you know what, it sits on my desk and is never used. I charge my Treo while in the car and at my desk and have yet had a battery go dead. And the Treo is my main office phone.
If you are really concerned, I would wait for Gen 2 to see what Apple adds or changes. I do look for Apple to decide to allow 3rd party software. However, with the great web based iPhone apps coming out, that may not be an issue either. I have had some say they won't get one because they can't review and edit documents on it like they can a Treo. Big deal. I have a Treo and have never reviewed nor edited documents on it. If I have to do that, I have my trusty MacBook with me 24/7. And if I don't have wifi to get the document by email to review. I can just check my email with my Treo, soon to be iPhone and sync it to my MacBook and review and edit it than.
How many times do we need to read a blackberry user or Treo user state that the iPhone is not for the business person or lawyer. Someone please tell me what I can do on my Treo that I could not do on an iPhone. Someone please!!!! I just don't get that one.
Lets see, I can check and reply to email. I can have my calendar and all my contacts. I can surf the web. Oh, and I can sync my iCal and address book to my MacBook with the iPhone. If someone can convince me I should wait for the Treo to come out with its next generation smartphone that will NOT have a touch screen. Please do. If not, I will be getting a new iPhone by years end.

Mr. Scholes, I'm currently developing a web app for iPhone that uses a relation database on the back end. There should be no problem with using those sites, as long as they don't depend on Flash or Java applications.

The web bases apps for the iPhone will not, to my knowledge, handle a complex [relational database] To Do List like Life Balance or My Life Organized. This is my main use for a Treo, other than as a phone.
I have about 175 active clients in the process of sending me the dozens of documents [and installment fee payments] necessary for me to file their bankruptcy petitions.
I'd love to have Life Balance on an iPhone but I won't because it isn't web based and iPhones are not sold in Vermont. AT&T wireless does not do business in this state.
