Lexblog Mentioned my Kansasfamilylawblog.com tonight

Kevin O'Keefe at Lexblog mentioned the success that I have been experiencing this evening in a really nice post called Kansas divorce lawyer blog a marketing success.

And its true. Blogging does work!!! The success of the Kansas Family and Divorce Lawyer blog has been amazing. I knew from my research and the many phone calls I had with Kevin that this was going to be a marketing tool which would work. I just knew it.

Blogging is so completely different than any other marketing you have available and it does so much. With blogging, you are providing information to an area of people, whether localized or not. You are providing information about an area of law that you practice in and most likely have already had some success in. In addition, by blogging you will find yourself better versed in your area of practice than before. You will read more current news, case law and statutory updates, than you did prior to blogging. Why, you are providing information when you blog and you will have to know that information to post about it. You do become an expert, whether you like it or not.

As I told Kevin, I do no other advertising than my blogs. I no longer advertise with SBC Yellow Pages and actually see no need to. I never experienced the results of any marketing I have done, like I have with blogging. Best of all, I control the content and what I provide and when.

For me, I try to place at least one post a day to each of my blogs. However, you don't have to do that much if your time does not allow. What I have found and what you will find if you research blogging just a little, posting is the beauty of blogging. You are updating your "website" daily if you want, or weekly, monthly or less. The secret is that you are updating the site. I use those terms, so we are all on the same page. However, a blog, in my humble opinion, is not even close to a normal "website." Because you can update, provide RSS feed, link to other blogs and use your blog to store information daily, calling it a website is just wrong. It is so much more.

Another benefit and traffic driving feature of blogging is the linking you will do to other bloggers, and they will do to you. Prime example of this is the other family law bloggers I link to and who link to me. We are driving traffic to each other. In a sense, we are co-marketers with very little effort. We may read a post one of us has placed, by using our RSS newsreader. Instead of filing that somewhere to never be found again, we post about it and link to it on our own blog. Are we competing with each other. NO!!! We are feeding off each other's traffic and in turn driving traffic to each other.

I could go on and on. But, I will save more for another post. As I stated in that little comment I provided on Common Scold, I am excited about blogging.
